Call for papers NordiCHI2008 workshops

NordiCHI is the main Nordic forum for human-computer interaction research. During the NordiCHI2008 conference from 20 to 22 October 2008 in Lund, CITIZEN MEDIA is organising 3 workshops: New approaches to requirements elicitation, How can HCI improve social media development and co-design and HCI. Till 10 September you can submit papers. More about the workshop themes and the conference can be read on following page.


Beukenhoflaan on local TV

The people from the "Beukenhoflaan" - an offline community of people living in Limburg / Belgium - shared their experiences regarding their collaboration with the CITIZEN MEDIA project on TV Limburg. They expressed how the technology has affected their community, how they have made contact with new people living in their street.

Different people within CITIZEN MEDIA were key editors on a whitepaper regarding the Future and Challenges in European Research on User Centric Media published by the Networked Media Unit of the DG Information Society and Media of the European Commission. Join us at EuroITV2008 - 1st Call for Papers

CITIZEN MEDIA is a partner of the European Interactive TV Conference. The conference is held on 3-4 July 2008 in Salzburg, Austria. Besides some project partners being part of the organizing committee, CITIZEN MEDIA will also submit papers and have an exhibit booth at the conference. So hope to meet you there. Participation and motivations in off- and online communities


By 3 different studies our project has gained insight in how non-professional users co-create new media applications today, in particular in online and offline communities. The main objective was to identify initial context, user and social requirements for CITIZEN MEDIA applications. Find the document and read more about its press coverage


Engerwitzdorf goes Brussels


Viviane Reding, commissioner for information society and media visited the Engerwitzdorf-booth at the conference "Bridging the Broadband Gap 2007", to learn about CITIZEN MEDIA and local pecularities of Engerwitzdorf such as "G'stanzl singen". Read more


Workshop on User Generated Content, Copyright and Business models.


Experts from public broadcasters, social networks, media companies and service providers in the Netherlands were invited to share their experiences about the legal and regulatory problems they face today when working with user generated content. Read more


Movie about our project


At the start of our project each partner was interviewed about his or her expectations. The management-by-media carried out inside the consortium used these recordings to make a first movie about our project. Watch the movie


CITIZEN MEDIA on national Norwegian Television


On 6 december 2006, Petter Bae Brandtzæg from SINTEF presented results from CITIZEN MEDIA project on the national news. This attacted a lot of attention in the media especially in Norway. Read more about the press coverage and watch the emission online


CITIZEN MEDIA organizes first workshop!


Workpackage 1, 3 and 5 have setup a workshop about supporting non-professional users in the new media landscape. The workshop will take place in San Jose on 29 April 2007. Read more about this workshop
