IPTV applications

The CITIZEN MEDIA IPTV application offers users the possibility of creating their profiles, and uploading photos and videos via the Web and present their own user generated content to all other test households via a TV screen and contains the following functions:

Service function - enables the testbed users to switch between the standard IPTV platform of Telekom Austria and the CITIZEN MEDIA field trial IPTV platform.
CITIZEN MEDIA IPTV Portal - offers the users a very simple and comfortable way to navigate through the CITIZEN MEDIA applications, functions and all offered user generated content.
Photo sharing function - enables the users to upload their images via "Shozu" (mobile photo application or with a web application to "Flickr" (photo community platform). In addition, the application handles the photos and meta information and will immediately display the content on the users "Photo sharing over IPTV"-page on the users' TV screen without further manual interaction.
Video upload function - gives the user the opportunity to upload video content and video metadata to the IPTV platform via a web portal. The IPTV set top box application offers a simple user interface where the user can browse with the up and down buttons through all available user generated content. With each "content" a short description is provided; the important metadata and the numbers of views are displayed.
Voting function - allows further interaction. Every user has the opportunity to rate any of the user generated content. In other words, the user has the ability to give direct feedback to the content owner regarding their reaction (likes or dislikes) to the content. Ratings can be given for videos, photos and users.
CITIZEN MEDIA Administration function - offers the users an administration tool where they can register themselves for the project CITIZEN MEDIA and get a username and password. Via this internet portal http://my.citizenmedia.at the users can enter and update their profiles and user data. Moreover, this is also the entry point to the video upload tool where the test households can upload their own videos to the IPTV platform and find additional information about the project (e.g. user manual, etc.). For the administrators of the project this tool is also used internally for user management and usage statistics.
