Kabadada and Kabadu
Political cabaret is an art form that reflects society in a humoristic way and thereby establishes relations between entertainment culture and political controversy.
Many theatres in Cologne and the surrounding cities are explicitly focused on political cabaret performances. Many artists are based in Cologne and are permanently producing new content that is mainly distributed in live performances, but also in radio or TV shows.
Due to offices of many broadcasting companies and a high density of cabaret theatres in Cologne and surrounding cities the Cologne area can be regarded as a local centre for political cabaret in Germany.
Kabadada and Kabadu can be regarded as one application separated into two parts, facing each other. Although they are operated on the same technical platform and consist of similar features and functionalities, a different implementation of certain features has been decided, as an outcome of the evaluation and hosting process, which will be described in the following section. Both platforms provide cabaret related content for a growing online audience that uses the internet as a source for video content. Both platforms allow registered users to promote themselves with a user profile and to upload A/V content. Both parts offer community functionalities, like content distribution through blogs and communication with other registered users through contact messages.
Kabadada targets professional artists, theatres, hosts and cabaret related organisations. Visitors of the page will find professional and high quality A/V content, provided by established cabaret artists. Furthermore, additional information about artists, tour-dates or cabaret related events in Germany is provided by the community members on the platform. In the public "Deutschland-Blog" professional participants can write articles about actual political or social issues.
Kabadu targets an open community of cabaret-affected amateurs and new talents. The application allows everyone to attract attention by presenting amateur A/V content in the context of political cabaret, which stretches across comedy, poetry slam and other art forms of satire. On Kabadu video content can be voted and commented by visitors and other users of the platform.
